Pray for Wisdom that Transcends You
James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Just as Christians fall short of God's glory due to sin (Romans 3:23), we find ourselves lacking and falling short of wisdom. An unwise response to trials clouds the mind and causes an overcast over our spirit. Having wisdom helps us understand what our trials are producing in us. James 1:2-4 "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
Due to our lack of wisdom, we face detrimental consequences. What makes the consequences harmful is the ripple effect that touches our lives and those near and dear to us all. James 1:6, "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind." Our doubt, due to our lack of wisdom, starts from within. That storm (hurricane) that brews within us is spread to others over our lack of wisdom.
Therefore, we need wisdom beyond our age, experience, expertise, ethnicity, and even the environment where we are from or now dwell. With this wisdom, we can see things as God sees them and respond to life and our challenges as He would.
God promises to give you wisdom generously. We ask God for many things. Wisdom is one request that He is delighted to answer. You have many issues that are beyond you to sort out. Acknowledge that you are not an expert in all matters, and pray for what you need: wisdom.
