Helping the Devil Help Us To Hell

Satan, which means adversary, has one objective which is to help us all to hell. He cannot force us or make us, he only helps us. So, whether we are pressured, enticed, encouraged, or deceived to travel the dismal way that engulfs in eternal misery, the devil’s response will still be the same—mission accomplished. Because the devil wins if we end up in hell with him and his cohorts (Matt.25:41Lk.22:31).

We are warned from heaven through the inspired pages of holy scripture of the devil’s plot. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet. 5:8). We are told how to battle him. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph.6:11; cf. 12-17). We are told how to put him in retreat. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (Jas.4:7). Armed with this information and Jesus as an ally, the devil should not be able to overcome us. “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Rom.8:31). Yet, many will be vanquished by the slayer of souls and wind up in the never-ending flames of incurable torment and suffering (Matt.7:13Rev.14:11). And, when it’s all said and done, the lost will have helped the devil helped them to hell.

How does this happen? The trouble is not with the Lord for He is mighty, the Almighty (Rev.1:8). Neither is there any issue with His Word that will accomplish all His will (Is.55:11). We are also capable of achieving all that God said we could. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Phil.4:13). So, how do we help the devil help us to hell? Through willful ignorance and rejection. “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge I will also reject thee…” (Hos.4:6). “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2Thess.2:10). “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins” (Heb.10:26). That’s it. Willful ignorance and rejection of the will of God. Read again when the devil tried to help Jesus to hell the Lord knew and understood the Word of God and stood firmly on it (Matt.4:1-11). That is exactly what we must do to not help the devil help us to hell. (Jas.1:21-22).
