Waking Up to Your Daily Revival
Opening our eyes to a new day is a blessing we should never take for granted. A revival can occur in your spirit at that moment of awareness and consciousness. Many credit the alarm clock for awakening them every morning; I encourage you to give honor and glory to God. “But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble.” (Psalm 59:16)
So, what happens after we are revived or wake up from our slumber? Obligations have been made, work must be done, distractions are always present, and sin is always around the corner. As God warned Cain about sin before he killed his brother in Gen. 4:7, “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” The moment you wake up, remember your obligations, what day it is and who you are, etc.; remember that you are God’s creation and belong to Him. Let that be in the forefront of your mind as you carry out your business and life.
Today answers a prayer you made or someone made on your behalf. Live today like Jesus is coming today. To live like he is coming in the far future could lead to me holding on to my anger, pride, lust, greed, and hatred for too long. We can’t afford to be caught with unrighteousness when Jesus returns. God would have you tie up all loose ends of unrighteousness today. Scripture states in Eph. 4:26, “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath.”
If I truly believe that Jesus could come at any moment, a revival will take place in my life right now. It would intensify with each passing day. Why does the fire intensify? We are all closer to our reward now than when we first started. Romans 13:11-12, “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Wake up and live for God!
