From The Desk of:

A Meeting That All Must Attend

Meetings serve a crucial role in our spiritual and professional development. They provide a platform for sharing vital information, gathering feedback, and strategizing for the future. While I've witnessed both productive and chaotic meetings, it's important to remember that each is an opportunity for growth. There is a consensus that many people dislike attending meetings to the degree that some avoid them.

When meetings are held, there is always something else that you could be doing that you deem more pressing. I want you to see these meetings more optimistically. You have no idea what we will get out of them.

After any meeting, there are always “the uninformed.” This is not because the information was not relayed but because they were not there to get it in their absence or because they were absent-minded while present. There are always the misinformed—those who were not there but received their information from the wrong source. These two approaches will always leave a person lacking, in the dark, and unprepared for what lies ahead.

Meetings, much as life's challenges, are inevitable. Despite our best efforts to avoid them, they will always be a part of our journey. We may not always be fully prepared, know the agenda, or have control over it, but we must still show up. We cannot simply walk away and ignore the summons.

You must meet life every day because it is already ahead of you. You do not know what is on life’s agenda; you cannot control the agenda, but you still have to show up.

What you get out of it depends on your willingness to participate in and receive it and your willingness not to walk away from what life presents.

God meets us every day by summoning us to receive the blessings of the day and, ultimately, eternal life.  In the third person, David speaks of what God brings to him as they meet. Psalm 21:3-7 “For You meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head. He asked life from You, and You gave it to him— Length of days forever and ever. His glory is great in Your salvation; Honor and majesty You have placed upon him. For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence. For the king trusts in the LORD, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.”
